floribunda noun[ C or U ] uk /ˌflɒr.ɪˈbʌn.də/ us /ˌflɔːr.əˈbʌn.də/ a type of rose(= garden plant with thorns (= sharp points) on its stems and pleasant-smelling flowers), grown for its flowers, which grow in small groups: Grow taller shrub roses at the back of the border, floribundas in the centre and miniature roses near the front. Floribunda or cluster-flowered roses need less severe pruning. The climbers and floribundas are Andrew's real passion. Proper pruning of a floribunda should be carried out in December or January, with oldest wood cut out and the entire bush reduced by a third or even more. The best container-grown roses are the floribundas, which produce several crops.
