Goosefoot shoots were formerly used as spinach. The height of the lignum and goosefoot made moving the sheep in the right direction very difficult. In the Middle Ages, the seeds of knotgrass and goosefoot were widely present and may have been used to make a porridge. Goosefoot is both a pernicious weed and a nutritious food.
