hellebore noun [ C ] uk /ˈhel.ɪ.bɔːr/ us /ˈhel.ə.bɔːr/ any plant of the Hellebore genus(= group of related plants), with large attractive flowers: Hellebores have fantastic winter flowers, but they are often hidden by foliage. Hellebores need very little attention once established. In November we cut off all the hellebore leaves to allow more room for the snowdrops. Winter and spring-flowering hellebores can be lifted and divided now, so they settle down before winter sets in. The aim of our walk was to find the green hellebores that grew in the woods. Hellebores can be moved as whole plants, or chopped into large pieces.
