Percussion is a category of musical instruments, essentially idiophones and membranophones, which are played by being struck or shaken.
Idiophones acquired their name from the Latin words idio meaning "single" and phone meaning "sound".
Struck idiophones and plucked idiophones can be found in Namibia and Botswana.
