Jindo noun[ C ] uk /ˈdʒɪn.dəʊ/ us /ˈdʒɪn.doʊ/ a type of dog from Korea that has thick hair, ears that point upwards, a tail that curves over its back, and was originally used as a hunting or guard dog: Although it was a national treasure, the Jindo was on the verge of extinction during the Korean War. The dog was one of only 30 Korean Jindo hunting dogs in Britain. The jindo is a fox-like breed that has existed for centuries on Jindo Island, southwest of South Korea. At the time there were very few Jindos kept as private pets. The jindo pedigree was finally recognized.
