perilymph noun[ U ] anatomy specializeduk /ˈper.i.lɪmf/ us /ˈper.ə.lɪmf/ liquid found inside the inner ear(= a part inside the ear) that fills the outer space of the structure and surrounds the endolymph(= a liquid that helps control balance): The space between the bony and membranous parts is filled with perilymph. Around the cochlear duct the perilymph spaces form a single tube. The cochlear fluid system is made up of two fluids, perilymph and endolymph. If the membranous labyrinth ruptures, the endolymph mixes with another inner ear fluid called perilymph. A change in cerebrospinal fluid pressure is transmitted through a patent cochlear aqueduct to the inner ear perilymph.
