BME adjective[ before noun ] UKuk /ˌbiː.emˈiː/ us /ˌbiː.emˈiː/ abbreviation for Black and minority ethnic: used to refer to people in the UK who do not consider themselves to be white. This is no longer used as an official term and many people do not like it because it seems to treat many different people and groups as if they are the same: 黑人及其他少数族裔(Black and minority ethnic 的缩写,在英国用来指称非白人族裔) They offered an internship for graduates from BME backgrounds. The term "BAME" became more frequently used than "BME" to recognize the significant and distinct Asian population in the UK. Compare
