a type of large dog from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia that has a strong, square body, a thick coat of fur, and was once used to guard sheep, cows, etc. :
The Tornjak is believed to have existed as far back as the 14th century.
Tornjaks are strong and brave enough to defend the flock from much larger predators, including wolves and bears.
If you adopt a Tornjak puppy, be ready to give it lots of exercise as it gets older and larger.
