Turkish Van noun[ C ] uk /ˌtɜː.kɪʃ ˈvæn/ us /ˌtɝː.kɪʃ ˈvæn/ a type of cat with soft, white, often long hair, a darker, long-haired tail, dark marks on the head and ears, and sometimes eyes that are different colours: The cat had one blue eye and one amber eye - it was either a Turkish Van or a Turkish Angora. It may be true that most cats hate water, but not the Turkish Van cat - some of them love it. Other longhaired breeds, including Turkish Vans and then Birmans, were introduced during the same period. Other breeds include the Burmese, the Turkish Van cat, the Siamese, the Abyssinian, and the Singapura.
