Affrilachian noun[ C ] uk /ˌæf.rɪˈleɪ.ʃən/ us /ˌæf.rəˈlætʃ.ən/ an African American who comes from or lives in the region of Appalachia in the eastern United States: Affrilachians have influenced popular culture with contributions to literature, music, and art. Like many born in the region, large numbers of Affrilachians have migrated to other parts of America, yet they still retain a strong sense of their Appalachian roots.
