The assemblages present in the schists are chlorite-muscovite + andalusite + chloritoid + staurolite + kyanite. Andalusite lacks textural signs of cor rosion and does not show preferential growth of fibrolite along its grain boundaries, suggesting that fibrolite resulted from replacement of biotite instead of andalusite. Andalusite commonly occurs in staurolite-bearing assemblages, where it forms prominent centimetresize twinned poikiloblastic por phyroblasts with up to 50 vol. % inclusions of quartz, biotite and ilmenite. This formation contains most of the world's reserves of minerals such as andalusite, chromium, fluorspar, platinum and vanadium.
