spermatic cord noun[ Cusually singular ] anatomy specializeduk /spɜːˌmæt.ɪk ˈkɔːd/ us /spɝːˌmæt̬.ɪk ˈkɔːrd/ a group of nerves, blood vessels, and tubes that connects each testicle(= male sex organ) to the abdomen: A network of blood vessels and nerves, called the spermatic cord, connects the testicles in the scrotum to the groin. There is a decrease in blood flow to the affected testicle from the twisting of the vessels within the spermatic cord. Inside the spermatic cord, there are nerves, blood vessels that bring blood to and from the testicle, and a tube that brings the sperm towards the penis. Rarely, the testicular tumour spreads along the spermatic cord causing it to become nodular and hard. The spermatic cords connect inferiorly to the testes.
