Deeper bleeding beneath the skin may be seen as bruises or ecchymoses. Ecchymosis occurs easily in the soft eyelid tissues. Patients may have excess blood loss and facial ecchymosis as the result of injury to the angular artery. The patient had no petechiae and no other ecchymoses or signs of haemorrhage.
